Why Play Therapy?
Play Therapy involves the use of play for children to communicate their experiences, thoughts and feelings. It can help children learn to solve problems and change behaviors that are having a negative impact on their functioning at school, home and community. Children naturally engage in play to create meaning and organize their experiences.
Working out feelings through play allows children to distance themselves from difficult experiences and memories through symbolic expression, using the toys as the medium to disclose what is going on for them they can't otherwise express verbally. Play is a child's natural language & provides a therapeutic approach that is neurobiological, evidence based, child centered and effective.
