Jessamy Whitsitt, LMFT, RPT

My background working with children began when I was a teen myself. I have been a camp counselor, a nanny, a Montessori teacher, a parent educator and a foster parent. I am a parent and after my time interning and then working at Ryther I started my own private practice in Seattle. I am licensed to work via telehealth in Virginia and Washington State. My in person work is done in Seattle currently. I am the vice-president of the Washington State Play Therapy Association. I utilize a trauma-informed, person-centered, inclusive approach to therapy and intervention. I am committed to empowering, affirming, and promoting acceptance of underrepresented youth across varying ethnic, religious/spiritual, sexual, gender, and cultural identities. I have significant experience working with neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ children, teens and their parents as well as individual adults. I believe strongly in the power of play therapy with children.

Evidence Based Approach

Child Centered Play Therapy, AutPlay Therapy, Synergetic Play Therapy, Solution Focused Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Strategic Family Therapy are some of the theoretical orientations I utilize. I lean on principles of Narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Each situation is unique and will be tailored to meet the needs of you, your child, teen or family.
